Not Her2

My personal journal with breast cancer #NotHer2

Welcome to Not Her2, my personal journal of my experiences since being diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to use this platform as an opportunity to help educate and inspire my readers. Hopefully we can fight to end breast cancer and we can stop saying,  "Not her too!"

Two Face

A few weeks ago, I got an infection in one of my eyes. That infection caused half of my face to swell up. I felt like I lookled like Two Face. I called my medical team and the Nurse Practitioner (Lisa) was great! She provided useful information that I want to share about what could have caused the infection.

First, it could have been that I had put on a pair of glasses that I didn’t disinfect. That’’s one accessory I didn’t think about cleaning. I clean my hand and phone often but not my glasses. Guess what I clean them now. I also cleaned all my makeup brushes. And I recently posted on my Instagram how to draw in some eyebrows. So I bought some wipes for daily brush cleansing since I haven’t worn makeup since this infection. Told myself to get on it and get those eyebrows back on. LOL

Another reason is an overzealous eyelash wants to grow back out and irritated that water line. My peach fuzz baby hairs on my head are growing so why not my eyelashes. Maybe my brows will grow soon. As long as my upper lip hairs (more feminine way to say a mustache LOL) stays dormant a bit longer. Let me tell you I’ve saved on waxing too.

Another side effect from chemo is dry eyes. And before BC (breast cancer not Before Christ LOL) I already had dry eyes. So I had the mask and everything for it.

If an eye infection is what I got with all infections, I’ll take it.

I washed all our beddings to make sure nothing else would get in my eyes.

I was prescribed an antibioptic topical ointment called bacitracin and I bought a huge bottle of eye drops to help relieve dry eyes. I treated the eye as if it was a sty and used warm compress. it subsided in a few days and just in time for the next treatment. If it didn’t go away it would’ve pushed my treatment back another week. Grateful that my body worked with me.

Again I end this post with gratitude and love to you all !

It all started with my annual mammogram on 11/2/2018. Then a second mammogram and ultrasound was done on my left breast on 11/30/2018....

I am glad it has healed and didn’t get an worse! You are doing amazing! When those lashes are ready to come and the brows too... I highly recommend lash boost from Rodan and Fields! It’s absolutely amazing ... your lashes and brows will grow quickly and be more beautiful than before (no I don’t sell but can get you hooked up). Also, since I have gone back to wearing contacts... my eyes are very dry. I find the gel drops work the best.... especially when you use them at night! You might want to give them a try. Keep smiling! You got this my friend! Love you! #bemorethanpink

Yikes.. eye infections, not fun👁 You definitely can’t be too careful, and it’s a good reminder to all of us to clean make-up brushes and equipment or throw them out and get new after a while. Glad you’re back to pretty eyes now..
