Active Breathing Coordinator - ABC
After my mastectomy and capsulectomy I was given the medical device on the third photo which is called AirLife volumetric incentive spirometers. That device helps “simplify deep breathing therapy with an intuitive design that prompts patients to correctly perform and monitor their own breathing exercises, even without direct supervision. A patient goal indicator can be adjusted and allows patients to monitor their own progress. Dual-sided calibrations clearly identify achieved volumes of up to 4000mL capacity. The flexible tubing lets the patient adjust the mouthpiece for use in various positions, and a mouthpiece holder provides storage when not in use.”
All that deep breathing exercise was helpful for radiation. Since the treatment is on my left breast, there are other vital organs that are near there such as my heart and lungs. The first image details what I have to do during every radiation treatment. Please read and “take 2 normal breaths...”. I definitely do not take breathing for granted.
The longest I have to hold my breath is for about 40 seconds when they first take an image to make sure my setup is precisely where it needs to be. Then they make small millimeter adjustments.
Prayers to everyone and your loved ones through these isolated times. Like my medical journey, this is just a minor detour in life. Grateful for you all!

Wow interesting... I can’t believe how much you are learning through this whole process. We definitely don’t ever think about our breathing.. keep it up, stay healthy 💪🏼
I’m glad you know how to handle your ABC Anak! I love you so much... Salamuch! Mahalmuch! Mom
This takes so much practice, meditation, and self control! You'll be able to give the Dalai lama a run for his money when this is all done!
