My personal journal with breast cancer #NotHer2

Welcome to Not Her2, my personal journal of my experiences since being diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to use this platform as an opportunity to help educate and inspire my readers. Hopefully we can fight to end breast cancer and we can stop saying,  "Not her too!"

Sometimes I feel like a 4-year old needing naps throughout the day and having to eat my greens all the time. And daily I feel like I’m 104 with the aches and pains especially with these cold San Diego winter mornings.

We went on a road trip and visited family in January. It was something we wanted to do before I started radiation and to celebrate some birthdays (including Mark’s). Towards the end of our family visits I had a fall on my head. The video would be something you’d see on Ridiculousness. I fell in the backyard of my cousin’s house while playing with our dogs. Like I said I cannot move like I used to. I wasn’t fast enough to move out of the way and was sideswiped by our dear loving Ocean. I fell on my head, but it was because I braced my chest (protecting those girls) rather than my head.

Thank goodness for everyone that was there and I did not have a concussion. I was screaming and mostly from fear that I may have cracked my head badly. My nephew Devin was in the backyard and ran in the house yelling “Auntie”. Everyone in the house thought something happened with the dogs and I needed help with them. Mark jumped off and leaped the couch like a superhero to get outside. My cousin Crystal ran in to get some ice and called Selena (an aunt who happens to be a nurs....YAY). My cousin-in-law Tony ran in to look at the video from their security camera.

The next morning the bump on my forehead went down. A couple of days later it turned into scratches. Then about a week later, the blood internally flowed towards my eyelid which made it look like I had a black eye. The photo on here is a week later.

The fall happened on a Sunday. I called my doctors a few days later and they said that if I had any infections it would have happened already. They also said I did not need to have a CT Scan or anything since I was sleeping and waking up normally. All in all they were all happy to see how I healed nicely.

Lessona learned for me...I don’t move as fast I think I could, eat lotsa veggies which helps your body heal, be grateful for the team of people around me that acted quickly, and I‘m hard headed (stubborn) 😋

It all started with my annual mammogram on 11/2/2018. Then a second mammogram and ultrasound was done on my left breast on 11/30/2018....
