Capsulectomy

It’s been a while since I’ve updated everyone on the blog. While recovering from my mastectomy, I have been busy with learning, doctor’s appointment, filling my expanders, therapies, and of course the holidays came quickly.
One of the things I learned is that I have to have another surgery called a capsulectomy. This surgery is an outpatient procedure which consists of replacing the expander with an implant and removing any scar tissues and/or nerve blocks. This surgery has to be done before I start my 25 radiation treatments. There’s a window of time to get it done so this surgery is happening on 12/23. The reason it has to be done before radiation and not after is because radiation will affect my skin’s elasticity in the treatment area. So if it was done after radiation, there will be a higher chance of the incision ripping, infection, and prolonged hearing.
So yes although it is right before Christmas and my birthday, I am grateful for the life I have and all the love I’m surrounded with. Thank you all for your prayers and love!
Meery Christmas 🎄 and I love you all!
