My personal journal with breast cancer #NotHer2

Welcome to Not Her2, my personal journal of my experiences since being diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to use this platform as an opportunity to help educate and inspire my readers. Hopefully we can fight to end breast cancer and we can stop saying,  "Not her too!"

Bloodwork

I have to get my blood drawn every Wednesday (day before chemo) to check several things to make sure my body can take and process the chemo meds.

Last week’s Taxol cycle 2 was postponed due to elevated liver enzymes. I was not in any dangerous levels, it was a precaution that it elevated a lot in comparison to my previous blood work. Hoping tomorrow’s treatment will go as planned. Keep those prayers and positivity coming.

Other items that are checked from my bloodwork are:

–WBC (white blood count)

- Plat (platelets)

- Gran# (granulocytes)

- Lymph# (lymphocytes)

- HGB (hemoglobin)

- BUN (blood urea nitrogen) urea is made in the liver and passed out in the urine; tests help determine how well my kidneys are working

- Creat (creatinine) this will help provide info on how well my kidneys are working

- ALT (alanine aminotransferase) liver enzyme

- AST (aspartate aminotransferase) liver enzyme

Don’t be surprised if your white blood count goes up. Happened to both my Aunt and Friend at the same stage during their treatment. Stay healthy and strong! You will do great! 😃
