Not Her2

My personal journal with breast cancer #NotHer2

Welcome to Not Her2, my personal journal of my experiences since being diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to use this platform as an opportunity to help educate and inspire my readers. Hopefully we can fight to end breast cancer and we can stop saying,  "Not her too!"

A lil normal and some medical follow ups

I realized that I can easily catch whatever that is easily going around. So I pretty much isolated myself at home for several days. Work kept me busy at home which was nice. Then by Wednesday I was able to get back in the office and felt comfortable that I won’t spread any germs to anyone and vice versa. I worked a full day the following days and felt normal with my energy level. All just in time to do it all over again. At least now I know what to expect.

I did develope a few mouth sores on my lip, my gum line and tongue. I applied some orajel on them and it all subsided in a few days. It didn’t keep me from eating and drinking. I just watched what I ate and continued to drink plenty of water.

I drink so much water that I think my Garmin says I reach my steps goal daily for all my bathroom trips.

if my side effects continue to be the same with the next cycle I’ll do better this time around with my mouth care. And for sure I’m staying home more and staying away from public places especially when there are a lot of people around. I do enjoy the visits from family and friends. But please don’t be offended if I opt to no hugs.

During the non treatment week, I also had a follow up appointment with both oncologists - surgical and medical. They both had news to share:

- surgical oncologist: during my exam he felt that the lump in my armpit may have shrunk (Good news) after one treatment. Although he also did say my initial visit that the lumps in both armpit and breast were very subtle and not easily detectable with just a physical touch.

- medical oncologist: great news with the side effects I felt with this round of chemo meds. It should remain about the same with just an increase in my fatigue and decrease with my normal energy level. NOT SO GREAT NEWS with my PET scan results in my ovary area. It may be due to my endometriosis. So I’m having to get a pelvic sonogram just to make sure there isn’t anything unusual there.

Will keep you all posted.
